James Sowerby (1757–1822) was a naturalist, illustrator and mineralogist; with his detailed and appealing coloured panels and

accessible texts he contributed greatly in bringing works of natural history to the public at large. This also holds true for his books on British & Exotic Mineralogy, which presented the amazing world of minerals in great detail to the world, inspiring this very piece. One can imagine that these are all but fragments of his studies, enabling us to renew our appreciation of the incredible world of minerals. Ctrlzak
