The limited depth of niches is compared with the imagined and infinite depth of nature that lies beyond the architecture; stability and transience seek balance in a representation that seems to grant more visual space to static and heavy things, but leads the eye towards the single light and airy glimmer, amplifying its presence and importance through the use of light.
