CAFE’ BABEL

November 2024
Lubjana, Slovenia

Café Babel in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is more than just a meeting place.
A style that blends interior design and art, in a mythical journey inspired by the story of the Tower of Babel: this is how designer Radovan Jenko and GAO Architects conceived it.

The wallpaper starring the spaces was designed especially for the café by Radovan Jenko and developed in collaboration with the design team of Wall&decò.
524 images take visitors on a mythical journey through the rich symbolism of illustrations, letters, words and phrases.

‘I found in Wall&decò an excellent partner for the development of this project. From the sampling,  which came in different colours to allow us to refine the design according to our vision - to the development of the final graphics, characterised by an extraordinary 3D effect, which added depth and a captivating visual impact to the space.
The variety and quality of the designs made the process easy and ensured that the end result was exactly what I wanted’. Radovan Jenko

Completing the wall coverings stylistically is the epic floor, which contains 3205 different handmade calligraphic letters.

‘...I created the artistic identity of the café, where different languages meet in one space, forming a modern Babel that speaks of the erudite diversity of life.’ - Radovan Jenko
