My creation for the new Contemporary Wallpaper collection was inspired by a period of fascination and study of the Japonisme phenomenon, i.e. the influence that Japanese drawings, ukiyo and fabrics had in Vienna at the end of the 19th century.

Mine is a tribute to Katagami, a kind of traditional paper stencil that influenced subjects, the stylisation of natural patterns and compositions of the time and that were used in the textile ateliers of the Wiener Werkstätte until the 1920s. Silvia Stella Osella
