The striking decorations of the earthen houses that women in many countries of West Africa execute on the exterior and interior walls of their homes are works of art that are not meant to last, as the rains and natural colours they produce with essences of various kinds are degradable.

Photojournalist Margaret Courtney Clarke has immortalised these artistic practices in her book 'African Canvas'. A book that blew me away. The play of patterns, the tones of colours, the elegance of the weaves guided me in the creation of this new design. Francesca Zoboli
